[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: It often lives in sea areas with bottom of river mud or rocky reefs, generally with water depth of 50-80m. It is a voracious eater, usually feeding on shrimps, crabs, fish and cephalopods. The spawning period is from April to July; in the South China Sea, it is from June to July. The spawning capacity is 1 million eggs, which are ovoid and 1.6-1.7mm in diameter. Larvae and juveniles can undergo metamorphosis during their development. There are seasonal migrations.
