[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of Dryopteris multiscaly, a plant of the Dryopteris family.

【Original form】Plant height 60-80cm. The rhizome is short and oblique, and together with the base of the petiole, is densely covered with reddish-brown, ovate-lanceolate scales and fibrous hairs. Leaves are clustered; petiole 20-30cm long, covered with brown, fibrous scales upward; leaf blade ovate or oblong-lanceolate, obtuse-pointed, not narrowed at the base, and three-time pinnate-lobed; lateral pinnae more than 20 pairs, lanceolate, obtuse-pointed, with short petioles, and twice pinnate-lobed; pinnules about 20 pairs, oblong, obtuse at the apex, fused to the rachis at the base, pinnate-lobed or half-cleft, with triangular sharp teeth on the margin, often reflexed after drying, rachis, rachis and rachidus are all covered with brown, fibrous and lanceolate scales; veins are obvious on both sides. The sporangium is dorsally borne on both sides of the barbules, with one on each lobe; the sporangium cap is kidney-shaped, reddish-brown, and often falls off early.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown under bushes or in grasslands on hillsides at an altitude of 3600-4700m.
