[Other names] Solanum lycopersicum (Guizhou Folk Medicine), Chamaecyparis obtusifolia, Cypress twig, Chamaecyparis spinulosa (Guangxi Medicinal Plant List), Cypress on stone (New Medicine (6, 7): 58, 1971).

[Source] The whole herb of Selaginella truncatula, a plant of the Selaginellaceae family. Harvest in autumn and dry in the sun.

[Original form] Perennial herb. The main stem is erect, about 35 cm high, and often has roots at the branches. The lateral leaves are continuous on the main stem and imbricate on the twigs, unequal on both sides, 4-5 mm long and 2 mm wide; the upper part of the lateral leaves is semi-oblong-lanceolate, with a round base, covering the branches, with hair-like micro-teeth on the lower part, and sparse teeth on the upper part; the lower part of the lateral leaves is semi-oblong, slightly serrated, with a rounded cuneate tip and a round base; the middle leaf is short ovate-oblong, with hair-like teeth, gradually pointed, and awned. Sporangium spike terminal, often with 2 spikes, 4 ribs, 1.5 mm in diameter; sporophylls round, ovate-triangular, keel-shaped, acute.

[Habitat distribution] It grows under forests or on acidic rocks in shady and moist ditches. Distributed in Yunnan, Guizhou, Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Taiwan, Zhejiang and other places.

【Chemical composition】 Preliminary tests showed that the whole plant contains alkaloids, a small amount of reducing substances, phytosterols and saponins.

【Nature and flavor】 "Guizhou Folk Medicine": "Warm in nature, slightly astringent in taste."

【Function】 ① "Guizhou Folk Medicine": "Dispel wind, dispel cold, reduce swelling, and relieve cough."

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 0.5 to 1 liang. For external use: mash and apply.

[Additional prescription] ① Treat cough caused by wind and cold: 1 liang of large-leafed vegetable. Take it in decoction.
