[Other name] Wupao (Common Chinese Herbal Medicines in Sichuan)

[Source] It is the root or leaf of the Raspberry plant of the Levitra family. The roots are collected in autumn and winter, and the leaves are collected in summer.

【Original form】Deciduous shrub. 2 to 5 meters high. The stem is cylindrical, without thorns, densely covered with gray-brown hairs, sometimes mixed with setae. The leaves are simple, nearly ovate or broadly ovate, 6-17 cm in diameter, acute or obtuse at the apex, cordate at the base, with irregular serrations on the margins, often with 5-7 inconspicuous fissures, rough on the upper side, gray-green on the lower side, with obvious reticulate veins and short hairs; the petioles are 5-7 cm long; the stipules are wider, nearly ovate, asymmetrical at the base, shallowly fissured at the apex, and tend to fall off prematurely. The panicle is terminal or in axillary flower clusters; the pedicel and pedicel are densely pubescent; the flowers are purple, 1 to 1.5 cm in diameter; the calyx lobes are triangular-ovate, with a pointed tip and pubescent inside and outside; the petals are obovate; and there are many stamens. The aggregate fruit is nearly spherical, 6 to 8 mm in diameter, and black. Flowering period is from June to July. The fruiting period is from August to September.

[Habitat distribution] Grown on hillsides, roadsides, forest edges, forests and bushes. Distributed in Sichuan, Guizhou, Hubei, Tibet and other places.

【Functions and indications】Cooling blood and promoting blood circulation. Treats vomiting blood due to overwork, coughing up blood, irregular menstruation, dysentery, scrofula, and fractures.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 0.5-1 liang; or soak in wine, stew with meat. For external use: grind leaves into powder and spread.
