The leaves are leathery, alternate, narrowly ovate or ovate-elliptical, 3-7 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, mucronate at the apex, rounded or slightly cordate at the base, with 5 basal veins; the petiole is sheath-shaped, reddish-brown; the stipules are broad and drooping.
