[Source] It is the meat of the Sinonovacula constricta of the family Razorciidae. They can be caught all year round; after catching, the shells are peeled off, washed, and used fresh or dried.

[Original form] 2 shells, thin, brittle, rectangular. The shell is about 4 to 8 cm long, the height is about 1/3 of the length, and the width is about 1/5 to 1/4 of the length. The top of the shell is located slightly forward of the dorsal edge, about 1/3 of the total length of the shell. The dorsal and ventral margins are nearly parallel, the anterior margin is slightly rounded, and the posterior margin is slightly truncated. The external ligament is dark brown and slightly triangular. The shell surface is smooth, with obvious growth lines, and a slightly concave oblique groove from the top of the shell to the ventral surface; the shell surface is covered with a layer of yellow-green shell skin, which falls off at the top and becomes white. The inside of the shell is white, and there is a protrusion under the top of the shell that is opposite to the groove on the shell surface. The hinge is small, the right shell has 2 needle-shaped main teeth, the left shell has 3 main teeth, and the central one is large and forked. The mantle marks are obvious, the mantle sinus is wide and the front end is round. Both the anterior and posterior adductor muscles are triangular, and the posterior adductor muscle scar is larger. The feet are well-developed in muscles, flat on both sides and with a flat tip, forming an oval plantar surface, with many tentacles around the foot holes. There are 2 water pipes, long and separate.

[Habitat distribution] Lives in mudflats near shallow sea estuaries. It feeds mainly on diatoms. Distributed along the coast of my country. It is farmed in Zhejiang, Fujian and other places.

[Chemical composition] Every 100 grams contains 88 grams of water, 7.2 grams of protein, 1.1 grams of fat, 2.4 grams of carbohydrates, 1.3 grams of ash; 133 milligrams of calcium, 114 milligrams of phosphorus, 22.7 milligrams of iron; and each kilogram of dried clams contains 1900 micrograms of iodine.
