【Original form】Plant height 60-80cm. The rhizome is procumbent, densely covered with brown, narrowly lanceolate or linear awl-shaped scales. Leaves subspermous; petiole 30-40cm long, straw-colored, covered with narrow lanceolate scales; leaf blade thick papery, ovate-oblong, nearly as long as petiole, 18-30cm wide, caudate at top, with occasional small scales along rachis, pinnae and midrib below, tripinnate or base tripinnate; pinnae 3-5 pairs, the base pair of pinnae is the largest, and the base pair of pinnules is elongated (the lower one is particularly long); pinnules are triangular-oblong, with shallowly lobed edges and thorn-like serrations. The sporangium clusters are borne at the top of the veinlets, in a row on each side of the midrib; the sori cap is round and kidney-shaped.
