[Original form] A short shrub, about 20 cm high. Stem erect, few branches. The leaves are odd-pinnate, alternate, with a petiole on the axis, 5-7 cm long; there are 5-7 leaflets, the terminal leaflet is petiolate, lanceolate, or oblong-lanceolate, 3-7 cm long, 1.5-3 cm wide, acuminate at the apex, with coarse serrations on the margin; the lateral leaflets are sessile, with a pair of the smallest at the base, obovate or nearly circular, 0.5-1 cm long, and entire. The inflorescence is axillary; the bracts are long triangular and covered with short hairs; the pedicel is short with fleshy short spines; the calyx is campanulate, 5-parted, lanceolate, about 2 mm long; the corolla is white, up to 2 cm long, sparsely covered with long soft hairs on the inside, 5-lobed, the lobes are oval, the apex is short-pointed, and purple-red; the filament tube of the stamens is torn at the top; the ovary is superior, 5-chambered, covered with long soft hairs, and the stigma is capitate. The capsule is oblate, with 5 obtuse edges and covered with soft hairs. There is a persistent calyx at the base; the seeds are flat. Flowering period is from May to September. Fruiting period is from June to October.
