[Source] Medicinal material source: The leaves of the plant Polygonum multiflorum of the Dryopteris family.

【Original form】Plant height 30-70cm. The rhizome is short and obliquely ascending, and together with the base of the petiole, is densely covered with large dark brown, broad ovate-lanceolate scales. Leaves are clustered; petiole 10-25cm long, straw-colored, sparsely scaled upwards; leaf blade oblong to lanceolate, 20-45cm long, 8-15cm wide, not narrowed at the base, once pinnate; pinnae 10-20 pairs, sickle-lanceolate, with short petioles, rounded cuneate base, slightly pointed ear-like protrusions on the upper side, and finely serrated edges; leaf veins are reticulate. The sporangium is borne at the tip of the internal vein and scattered on the back of the pinna; the sporangium cover is round shield-shaped, brown, and entire.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in forest edges, valleys, ridges and roadsides at an altitude of 100-2300m.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; slightly cold

【Functions and indications】 Cooling blood and stopping bleeding; clearing away heat and removing dampness. Mainly used for metrorrhagia, leucorrhea, bleeding from knife wounds, burns and fire injuries

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 9-15g; grind into powder, 3-6g. For external use: take appropriate amount, mash it into powder and apply on skin; or grind it into powder and apply on skin.
