[Source] It is the fruit of the Cucurbitaceae plant. Harvest from September to October and sun-dried.

【Original form】 Herbaceous vine. Stems slender, climbing. The leaves are alternate, broadly ovate in cordate shape, shallowly palmately lobed, earlobe-shaped at the base, with irregular fine serrations on the edges, green on the upper side, light green on the lower side, and covered with fine hairs on both sides; the petioles are slender and hairy; the axillary tendrils are 2 to 3 lobed. The flowers are large, yellow, and dioecious; there are usually two male inflorescences born in a leaf axil, one of which is single and caducous, and the other is a raceme; the female flowers are solitary on a very short inflorescence stalk; the calyx tube is long columnar, with 5 linear teeth; there are 5 petals, which are nearly free; there are 3 stamens; the ovary is oblong, 3-chambered, and each chamber has 4 to 6 ovules. The fruit is broad and oblong, narrow at both ends, with 3 corners, irregular wavy ridges, and 3 fruit petals, split from the central axis almost to the base.

【Habitat distribution】Grows under forests. Distributed in southwest my country and Tibet.

【Nature and flavor】Cold in nature, bitter in taste.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat, detoxifies, and softens the liver. Treat icteric infectious hepatitis and indigestion.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 1 to 3 qian.
