[Original form] Shrub or small tree, up to 7m tall. The twigs, petioles, both sides of the leaves, inflorescence axis, pedicels and calyx are all glabrous or have glandular hairs that fall off when old. Branchlets brown, sparsely lenticeled. Simple leaves are opposite; petiole is 1-3cm long; leaf blade is ovate, broadly ovate or oblong, 3-13cm long, 2-9cm wide, gradually pointed at apex, truncated, broadly cuneate or cordate at base, green above, light green below. Flowers bisexual; inflorescence axis sparsely lenticeled; calyx teeth acute to short acuminate; corolla white, fragrant; stamens 2, anthers yellow, located 1-2mm from corolla throat. Capsule ovate-elliptic, ovate to oblong, smooth. The flowering period is April-May, and the fruiting period is June-July.
