Is the antelope horn real?

Antelope horn is a precious Chinese medicine. It can be used alone or combined with other Chinese medicines to form a large Chinese medicine prescription to treat many diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine treats the root cause, while Western medicine treats the symptoms. As people become more familiar with traditional Chinese medicine, more and more people like to use it to treat diseases. It is rare (almost non-existent) to see real antelope horns in the general medicinal material market. At present, most of the so-called antelope horns used in China are made from the horns of yellow sheep, long-tailed yellow sheep, and Tibetan antelope. They are purchased at extremely low prices (most of them are poached goods), but sold to patients at high prices. No one cares about this and the management is poor! Since real antelope horns are rarely seen in the market, many people mistakenly think that horns such as yellow sheep horns are antelope horns and are deceived. 1. Authentic antelope horns have the following characteristics:

① When looking through the light, you can see a gray-black line going straight to the tip of the horn, commonly known as the "eye to the sky".

②There are annular ridges on the surface, which makes it comfortable and natural to hold flat.

After taking out the bone plug, it can be seen that there is a raised corner on the surface of the bone plug which coincides exactly with the depression inside the corner. Those without the above characteristics are all false antelope horns. In addition, those that become soft after soaking in water are fake products made of horns; those that become sticky are fake products made of fish bladders.

Antelope horns grow on male antelopes when they are seven months old. Female antelopes do not have horns. Full-grown antelope horns are generally 28 to 30 centimeters long. The roots of the antelope horns are brown-yellow, and the upper part is yellow-white, a bit like wax. There are about twenty circles on the top of the antelope horns. When purchasing, you must keep your eyes open to distinguish the authenticity.
