Gecko is a common animal. We can often see geckos at home or by the pond. But in traditional Chinese medicine, gecko is also a good medicine for treating many diseases. Gecko can enter the kidney meridian and nourish the spleen and stomach. Therefore, traditional Chinese medicine often regards gecko as a good medicine for treating diseases, especially colds, strokes, paralysis, etc. Gecko can be said to have a good health-preserving value. Geckos actually have many uses. According to authoritative experts, geckos can actually be used to prevent cancer, and the effect is quite good. So what other aspects of the health value of geckos are reflected? Let's take a brief look together. Medicinal effects of geckos 【Medicinal material category】 Animal 【Nature and flavor】 Salty; cold; slightly toxic. ① "Compendium of Materia Medica": salty, cold, slightly toxic. 【entry into meridians】 Liver meridian. 【Medicinal Part】 The whole body of the gecko [Origin and Distribution] It lives in secluded places such as between walls and under elms. It goes in and out of ceilings and walls at night and preys on mosquitoes, flies and other insects. 1. Distributed in Shanxi, Shaanxi, Gansu, Shandong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan and Guizhou. Gecko is a species of Lizardia, also known as palace guard. The body is flat dorsally and ventrally, and is covered with granular scales or mixed with warty scales. The tips of the fingers and toes are expanded, and skin folds are formed underneath, which are densely covered with glandular hairs and have the ability to adhere, allowing them to crawl quickly on walls, ceilings or smooth surfaces. Among them, there are about 20 species in the genus Gecko, 8 of which are produced in China. The common ones are multi-wart geckos, webbed-toed geckos, and webbed-toed geckos. Geckos are found in warm regions throughout the world. Tools/Raw Materials The wartless gecko of the family Gecko is used as medicine in its dried form. Catch in summer and autumn, drop to death or scald to death with boiling water, and dry in the sun or bake. Nature and flavor Salty, cold. Slightly poisonous. Enters the kidney meridian Function and indications Dispel wind, activate collaterals, and disperse stagnation. Osteomyelitis, lymphadenopathy, tumors. Calms the nerves and detoxifies. It is used to treat paralysis caused by stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, epilepsy caused by wind and phlegm, scrofula, and malignant ulcers. ① Treat paralysis and constant pain in the hands and feet (do not use if there is no pain): 5 grams of royal rice husk (fried with honey), 25 grams of tangerine peel, 12.5 grams each of gecko (roasted yellow), frankincense, myrrh, and licorice. The top is the last. Take 15 grams each time, decocted and taken orally. ② For treating rheumatism, unbearable pain: 3 white grubs (wrapped in wet paper, simmered and ground), 3 geckos (ground), 5 earthworms (remove the mud and grind), 0.5 g frankincense (ground), 3 Aconitum kusnezoffii (raw, peeled), 25 g costusroot, 5 g musk (ground), 2.5 g tiger brain (ground). Take the above eight ingredients, grind Aconitum carmichaelii and Costusroot into powder, mix well, make into pills, add a little wine and cook into a paste, the pills should be as big as sycamore seeds. Take 30 pills each time, with frankincense wine before going to bed. ③ For tetanus, such as opisthotonos, stiff tendons and veins, and lockjaw: seven pieces of Pigongzi (slightly roasted), 50 grams of Arisaema (blasted and cracked), 50 grams of Nifen, and 50 grams of Baifuzi (blasted and cracked). Grind the above ingredients into powder, mix with refined honey and make into pills as big as mung beans. Take seven pills each time at any time, grind them with warm wine, and take them when sweating occurs. If not, take again. ④ For treating chronic epilepsy and insufficient blood in the heart: 50g of Gecko, one character each of pearl, musk and brain (grind into fine powder). Take a gecko, seal it with an iron seal, cut off its four legs, grind it into fine powder including the blood, add about one character each of pearl, musk and camphor, grind them into fine powder, and mix with mint soup to make a dose. First you must use Du Ming San to expel phlegm, or use the vomiting method, and then take this medicine. ⑤ Treat epilepsy caused by false heartbeat: one brown gecko. Grind the blood into a paste, add a little cinnabar and musk, and mix with mint soup. Continue to take Erchen Decoction. ⑥ To treat leprosy: one scorpion tiger (baked and dried), five liters of silkworm feces (sieved, rinsed twice with water, and dried in the sun), four or five pounds of white flour, mix with silkworm feces to make a rope, and dry in the sun. Grind the above ingredients into powder, take one or two grams each time, mix with cypress leaf soup, and drink before meals, three times a day. ⑦ To treat the initial stage of scrofula: roast and grind a gecko. Take half a portion daily with wine. ⑧ To treat severe pain from carbuncle: dry the gecko, grind it into powder, mix with oil and apply on the affected area. Dosage Fry and grind into fine powder, take 1.5 to 2.5 grams each time; or 2.5 to 7.5 grams, decocted in water. The medicinal value of geckos in fighting cancer Gecko is a species of Lizardia, also known as palace guard. The common ones are multi-wart geckos, webbed-toed geckos, webbed-toed geckos and geckos. There are four known species of the genus Lizard in China, and one species each of the genera Semilobateus, Trichodactylus and Scorpiontiger, which are mainly distributed in South China. Animals in this family do not have movable eyelids. When a gecko is severely disturbed, its tail can cut off by itself and then regenerate a new tail. Geckos live in buildings and feed on insects such as mosquitoes, flies, and moths. It is active at night, often appearing on lighted walls, ceilings, eaves or electric poles in summer and autumn nights. It lurks in hidden places such as wall cracks, under tile corners, behind cabinets, etc. during the day, and lays 2 eggs at a time in these hidden places; the eggs are white, oval, and the shells are easily broken. The incubation period is more than one month. The dried product of gecko with its internal organs removed is used in traditional Chinese medicine, called "Tianlong". It has the effects of nourishing the lungs and kidneys, improving the essence and blood, relieving cough and asthma, calming spasms and dispelling wind, and dispersing and reducing swelling. It can treat lymph tuberculosis, neuralgia, chronic arthritis, breast lumps, etc. Medicinal value of gecko in anti-cancer treatment Regarding the effect of gecko on the immune system, the thymus weight and spleen weight were measured at the same time as the tumor weight, and the thymus index and spleen index were calculated. An experiment on the phagocytosis of chicken red blood cells by peritoneal macrophages was also conducted to calculate the phagocytic rate and phagocytic index. In terms of anti-tumor mechanism, mouse sarcoma tissue was used as the research object, and the protein expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) was detected by SABC immunohistochemistry, and the cell apoptosis rate was detected by TUNEL method. In terms of enhancing efficacy and reducing toxicity, a transplanted mouse sarcoma S180 solid tumor model was established and the mice were randomly divided into a control group, a CTX group, and a group treated with high, medium, and low doses of gecko powder combined with CTX. Observe the inhibitory effect of the drug on tumors and its effects on animal body weight, immune organ weight, and white blood cell count. Results The acute toxicity test was unable to determine the LD50 of gecko powder, and no weight loss or other abnormal reactions were found in mice at the maximum dose. The results showed that the maximum tolerable dose of mice was 108 times higher than the clinical dose for humans. Serum containing the Chinese medicine gecko can inhibit the growth of esophageal cancer cells in vitro. The Chinese medicine gecko can inhibit the growth of mouse sarcoma S180 in vivo, and the tumor inhibition rates of the high, medium and low dose groups are 49.8%, 52.8% and 43.1%, respectively; the effect on immune organs cannot increase the thymus index and spleen index of tumor-bearing mice, and cannot increase the phagocytic rate and phagocytic index of peritoneal macrophages. In terms of mechanism research, it can reduce the expression of VEGF and bFGF proteins in tumor tissues and significantly increase the apoptosis index. In terms of efficacy enhancement and toxicity reduction, the tumor inhibition rate of the CTX group alone reached 35.6%. At the same time, the weight gain of mice slowed down, the thymus and spleen were also significantly inhibited, and the number of white blood cells was significantly reduced. The tumor inhibition rates of the three groups of high, medium, and low doses of gecko powder combined with CTX were 63.9% (P0.01), 60.2% (P0.01), and 53.3%, respectively. There was no significant change in the weight of mice, immune organ weight, and white blood cell count in each dose group. Conclusion The conventional clinical dosage of Chinese medicinal gecko is safe and reliable; Chinese medicinal gecko has antitumor activity both in vivo and in vitro; its antitumor effect may be partially achieved by inducing tumor cell apoptosis and inhibiting tumor angiogenesis. The Chinese medicine gecko has a toxicity-reducing and efficacy-enhancing effect on CTX treatment of mouse transplanted tumor S180. The medicinal value of geckos in fighting cancer Geckos are clinically used to treat esophageal cancer, intestinal cancer, primary liver cancer, lung cancer, etc. ⑴ Treatment of primary liver cancer and lung cancer: Gecko injection, 2ml per vial, containing 2g of crude drug. Intramuscular injection: 4 to 6 ml each time, twice a day. A total of 48 cases of liver cancer were treated, with a total effective rate of 54%; 27 cases of lung cancer were treated, with 2 cases showing marked effects and 15 cases showing effective results, with a total effective rate of 62.9%[11:103]. ⑵ Treatment of esophageal cancer: Use 50g of gecko (10 live geckos in summer), 100g of lacquer, 50g of tin block, soak them in 100ml of rice wine for 5 to 7 days, filter out the residue and make gecko wine. Take orally 3 times a day, 25 to 50 ml each time. A total of 42 patients with esophageal cancer were treated, with a cure rate of 30.95% and an overall effective rate of 92.86%[16:1128]. Fry 1 gecko and an appropriate amount of rice until browned every day, grind into fine powder, and take it in 2 to 3 times with a small amount of rice wine. The clinical symptoms of 4 cases disappeared after treatment. Barium meal radiography reexamination showed that the stenosis of the lower esophagus disappeared in one case, but the edge was still not neat; the stenosis of the lower esophagus was lighter in one case; the cancer focus disappeared in one case; and the middle esophagus was still narrowed in one case, but the exfoliated cell examination was negative. Medicinal value of geckos The dried product of gecko is used in traditional Chinese medicine, named "Tianlong Gecko". It has the effects of nourishing the lungs and kidneys, replenishing the essence and blood, relieving cough and asthma, calming spasms and dispelling wind, and dispersing and reducing swelling. It is used for stroke paralysis, rheumatic joint pain, osteomyelitis, lymph tuberculosis, and tumors. It can be used clinically to treat esophageal cancer, intestinal cancer, primary liver cancer, lung cancer, etc. The above is a brief introduction to the medicinal value of geckos. For most people in real life, there is no need to worry about side effects when using geckos to treat diseases. It can be said that using geckos to treat diseases is an effective and practical treatment method, so it has been widely used in clinical practice. |
