Effects of Cyperus rotundus: Regulate Qi and relieve depression, regulate menstruation and relieve pain. It is used for liver depression and qi stagnation, distension and pain in the chest, flanks, and abdomen, indigestion, irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, abdominal pain due to cold hernia, and breast pain. 1. Regulating Qi and relieving depression: used for chest, flank, stomach and abdominal distension and pain caused by liver qi stagnation. Combined with Bupleurum and Citrus aurantium, it is used to treat chest and flank pain. Combined with galangal (named Liangfu Pills), it is used to treat stomach cold pain. 2. Regulate menstruation and relieve pain: used for irregular menstruation and lower abdominal distension and pain caused by liver qi stagnation. Combined with mugwort, it can treat abdominal pain during menstruation caused by cold stagnation and qi stagnation.
