It is mainly used to treat convulsions, sore throat, submandibular lymphadenitis, facial nerve paralysis, skin itching and other diseases. Bombyx batryticatus is a commonly used Chinese medicine with a pungent and salty taste and a neutral nature. It has the effects of dispelling wind and relieving spasms, resolving phlegm and dispersing nodules, clearing away heat, detoxifying and drying dampness. It is mostly used clinically to treat hot cough, phlegm and asthma, vomiting blood, metrorrhagia, leukorrhea, bruises, rheumatism, sores, etc. In recent years, its scope and field of application have been continuously expanding.

The efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine Bombyx batryticatus

It is similar to Gastrodia elata in that it is milder and can be used in combination with Gastrodia elata for relieving wind and relieving spasm and is often used in combination with Gastrodia elata. The difference is that Gastrodia elata can calm the liver and has special significance for liver yang transforming into wind, while Bombyx batryticatus has a slight effect of clearing heat and removing phlegm, so it is more suitable for people with internal liver wind and phlegm heat. For example, childhood convulsions, stroke, and epilepsy are often accompanied by internal obstruction of phlegm and heat. In addition, this product has a mild inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, etc.

2. The silkworm pupa is a product made from silkworm pupae as the substrate and fermented with Beauveria bassiana. Clinical observations and experimental studies have shown that the functions of pupae are similar to those of silkworms, but the effects of pupae are milder. Therefore, it can be used in combination with Gastrodia elata to treat spasms and convulsions caused by internal liver wind, regardless of whether it is heat syndrome, cold syndrome, deficiency syndrome or excess syndrome. For the treatment of acute convulsions, high fever, coma, and convulsions in children, it is advisable to use it in combination with heat-clearing and detoxifying, wind-calming and convulsion-stopping drugs, such as Qianjin Powder in Shoushibaoyuan, and use it together with bezoar, scorpion, and coptis. If the patient has slow convulsions due to spleen deficiency and long-term diarrhea with twitching limbs, he should be treated with drugs such as Codonopsis pilosula and Atractylodes macrocephala that can replenish qi and strengthen the spleen. It is used to treat spasms, convulsions and opisthotonos caused by tetanus, and is often used in combination with wind-dispelling and antispasmodic drugs.
