It is a famous ornamental tree species in gardens and is often planted as a street tree. It rarely bears fruit and is mostly propagated by grafting, with yellow orchid, Michelia, and Phoebe maculatum as rootstocks; it can also be propagated by air layering or grafting. It is native to Java, Indonesia and is now widely planted in Southeast Asia. It is cultivated very vigorously in Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other provinces in China, and is mostly planted in potted plants in the provinces along the Yangtze River, overwintering in greenhouses. White jasmine contains aromatic volatile oils, antioxidants, bactericides and other substances, which can beautify the environment, purify the air, and perfume the room.
