The plants are monoecious with different bracts. The male bracts are terminal and bud-shaped. The female bracts grow on the short side branches under the male bracts; the capsule stalk is slender, yellowish brown, 2-5 cm long, curved at the top, the spore capsule is curved pear-shaped, asymmetrical, with a distinct platform, and with longitudinal grooves on the stem; the capsule teeth are two layers; the capsule is hood-shaped, with a long beak, and shaped like a gourd.
