The efficacy and function of Sichuan pangolin

Many people know about pangolins in their lives. Pangolins are a traditional Chinese medicine, but they are also animals. Pangolins have been listed as national protected animals. However, some people use a small amount of pangolin tissue as medicine, which has the effects of reducing swelling and relieving pain, treating rheumatism and paralysis, and has a good regulating effect on many people's milk retention.

Pangolin has the ability to activate blood circulation and dissipate stagnation;

It can regulate menstruation and promote lactation; it can eliminate carbuncles and ulcers. It is used to treat blood stasis, amenorrhea, abdominal masses, rheumatic pain, milk retention, carbuncle, scrofula, etc.

Characteristics

Identification of properties: This product is flat or half-folded in the shape of a fan, triangle, diamond or shield, thicker in the middle and thinner at the edges. The sizes vary, with length and width being approximately 0.5-5cm each. The back is dark brown or yellowish brown and shiny, while the ventral side is lighter in color. There is an obvious protruding arched horizontal ridge in the middle, and several fine lines parallel to the ridge below it. The cuticle is slightly transparent, tough and elastic, and not easy to break. It has a slightly fishy smell and a slightly salty taste.

Microscopic identification shows that the powder is light yellow and appears as amorphous fragments, nearly colorless, light yellow or yellow, most of which have round, oval or irregular cavities of varying sizes, the edges of the fragments are uneven or concave, and fine lines and spots are occasionally seen.

Chemical composition

Pangolin scales contain stearic acid, cholesterol, N-butyl tricosylamide, two aliphatic amides with carbon atoms of 26-29, cyclo(L-seryl-L-tyrosyl) dipeptide and cyclo(D-seryl-L-tyrosyl)-L-tyrosyl dipeptide, as well as 18 elements including zinc, sodium, titanium, calcium, lead, silicon, phosphorus, iron, manganese, chromium, magnesium, nickel, copper, barium, boron, aluminum, molybdenum, and tin. The aqueous solution contains 16 free amino acids including aspartic acid, threonine, serine, glutamic acid, glycine, alanine, cysteine, valine, methionine, isoleucine, leucine, tyrosine, phenylalanine, lysine, arginine and proline. It also contains volatile oils and water-soluble biological alkalis.

Pharmacological effects of pangolin

1. Reduce blood viscosity

1.2. Effect on coagulation time

2. Anti-inflammatory Effects

3. Cyclic dipeptides VI and VII in pangolin slices can improve tolerance to normobaric hypoxia.

Identification:

For physical and chemical identification, take 5 g of processed pangolin slices, grind them, add 50 ml of 95% ethanol and soak them overnight, and filter to obtain the ethanol extract. Take 5 ml of the above ethanol extract and evaporate it to dryness, dissolve it with 1 ml of chloroform, and add concentrated sulfuric acid dropwise along the wall of the tube. The upper layer will be light blue with a brown ring in the middle, the lower layer will be yellow-brown, and green fluorescence can be seen under ultraviolet light. Take 1 ml of the above alcohol extract, add ninhydrin reagent and heat in a water bath for 10 minutes, it turns purple. Take 2 g of processed pangolin slices, grind them, soak them in dilute hydrochloric acid overnight, filter them, and add silicotungstic acid reagent to get the acid water extract, which will produce a white flocculent precipitate.

Preparation:

Roasted pangolin: Pick out the clean pangolin slices and separate them into large and small sizes. Put sand in a pan and fry until it is light. Add the pangolin slices and fry until they swell and turn golden. Take them out, sieve out the sand, and let them cool. Vinegar pangolin: Fry using the above method until it puffs up and turns golden yellow, sift out the sand, immediately pour the roasted pangolin slices into the vinegar basin, stir and soak them slightly, remove them, rinse with water, and dry them in the sun. (For every 100 pangolin slices, use 50 catties of vinegar

1. "Compendium of Materia Medica in Southern Yunnan": Stir-fry in earth and then use it with fire.

2. Compendium of Materia Medica: The recipe says that the ingredients may be roasted, burned, roasted with butter, vinegar, or urine of children, or fried with oil, stir-fried with earth, or stir-fried with clam powder, all according to the recipe itself; they are not used raw. The tail armor is still the most powerful.
