What are the effects and functions of pigweed?

Pig's tooth grass is a plant of the Asteraceae family and can be seen both in Shandong and in the Northeast. Now, pig's tooth grass can also be seen in southern regions such as Guangxi and Guangdong, and it also plays a very powerful role in traditional Chinese medicine treatment. In this case, what role and effect can pig's tooth grass play in traditional Chinese medicine treatment? Let me give you a brief introduction below.

1. Treatment of diphtheria:

Take the roots, stems and leaves of fresh pig's tooth grass, wash them with cold boiled water, mash them and squeeze out the juice, add an equal amount of honey; children can take 100 ml orally 4 times a day. At the same time, symptomatic treatment should be given according to the overall condition. If complicated with bronchopneumonia, penicillin and streptomycin should be added; if complicated with myocardial damage, the patient should rest in bed absolutely, and receive intravenous injection of hypertonic grapeseed solution, vitamin C and hormones (or use energy mixture); if the obstruction of the pig's tooth grass is severe and there are symptoms of suffocation, tracheotomy should be performed in time. Initially, 92 cases of mild diphtheria were observed, 84 were cured and 8 died; pig's tooth grass should be prepared fresh, as it will deteriorate and become ineffective if stored for a long time.

2. Treatment of tuberculosis:

For hemoptysis, take the whole herb of Curculigo orchioides and the rhizome of Imperata cylindrica and make an injection solution, each ml containing 0.5g Curculigo orchioides and 0.5g Imperata cylindrica root. Inject pig's tooth grass intramuscularly 2-3 times a day, 4 ml each time; for patients with severe hemoptysis, 4 ml of injection solution can be added to 20 ml of 50% glucose and injected intravenously, 2-3 times a day. The medication time is usually 4-5 days or slightly longer. Occasional side effects include chills and high fever, which disappear after sweating and are mostly caused by impure preparations.

3. Treat dysentery:

Take 4 liang of pig's tooth grass and 1 liang of sugar, decoct them in water and drink them while warm. Usually, the effect starts to appear after one dose of pig's tooth grass, and taking 3-4 doses in succession can usually cure the disease completely without any side effects.

4. Prevent and treat paddy field dermatitis

Take some pig's tooth grass, rub it into a pulp and apply it to the wet areas of your hands and feet until the skin turns slightly black. After it dries slightly, you can go to work in the paddy fields. Apply pig's tooth grass once before and after going to work every day to prevent erosion of hands and feet. It can also be used on eroded pigweed.

5. Hemostatic effect:

Cut the dog's femoral artery in half, apply pigweed leaf powder to the bleeding area, and apply slight pressure, which has a good hemostatic effect. The water extract also has a significant hemostatic effect.
