Head bumps that require immediate medical attention

1. If the collision is serious, there will be a concussion, and the person will be unconscious, blurred consciousness, dull expression, coma or semi-coma, no response when called, speech suddenly becomes incoherent, drowsiness, headache, dizziness, nausea, etc.

Of course, this condition can be mild or severe. If it is just a mild head injury, the current dizziness and mild nausea symptoms are related to the concussion caused by the trauma. If the symptoms gradually improve or show no signs of worsening, it suggests that you are unlikely to have intracranial contusion or laceration and you don't need to worry too much. A violent blow to the head can cause concussion, closed brain contusion, etc. If there is no discomfort such as headache, nausea, vomiting, etc., you can continue to observe. If the dizziness worsens, it is recommended to go to the hospital for a brain CT scan.

2. After the injury, there is bleeding, but the bleeding is heavy and cannot be stopped immediately.

3. If a baby hits his head, it is inevitable that he will cry, but if the crying cannot be soothed, the crying will not stop, and the baby is extremely irritable, and cannot be soothed for a long time, you should be alert.

4. The head is hit, the impact is severe, and there are abnormal conditions such as bone depression at the impact site.

5. Neck pain occurs. Generally, hitting the head and neck will not cause fractures. If the neck is fractured, the injury to the head will definitely be more serious. Neck pain should be caused by minor injuries to the muscles or cervical spine. If the cervical spine is severely injured, the arms will also be affected. Because that place is the concentrated pathway for brain nerves to the lower body.

Even if you hit your head, it's best to continue to observe closely for 3 days.

Even if the condition is not serious at the time and no immediate medical attention is needed, you still need to continue to observe closely at home for 3 days. If the following situations occur during this period, go to the hospital for further examination.

1. Abnormal movements, such as crawling or asymmetrical walking postures;

2. Limited limb movement, such as being unable to raise hands or legs, limb weakness, etc.;

3. Decreased appetite and difficulty eating;

4. The pupils on both sides are of different sizes;

5. Symptoms of systemic or local convulsions occur;

6. Memory loss, decreased sensitivity of taste and smell;

7. Expansion of the anterior fontanelle;

8. Bleeding or other watery discharge from the nose or ears.
