Honeysuckle and honeysuckle tea are two of the most common plants that can be used as medicine. Their appearances are very similar on the market, causing many people to confuse which one is honeysuckle and which one is honeysuckle tea. So what is the difference between honeysuckle and honeysuckle tea? Which one is better? Let me tell you about it below. 1. Which one is better, honeysuckle or honeysuckle tea? The medicinal effects of honeysuckle and honeysuckle tea are similar, and it is difficult to say which one is stronger. Honeysuckle and honeysuckle tea have similar areas. Both are common medicinal plants with many benefits to health. However, although honeysuckle tea and mountain honeysuckle are completely separated in the 2010 edition of the "Chinese Pharmacopoeia", the nature, taste, meridians, efficacy and effects, usage and dosage of mountain honeysuckle and honeysuckle tea are basically the same. Both have the effect of promoting body fluid and moistening the body, and belong to the lung, heart, liver and gallbladder meridians. They both have the effects of clearing away heat and removing fire, relieving wind-cold and wind-heat. This shows that mountain honeysuckle and honeysuckle tea can replace each other in clinical use. Therefore, it is currently impossible to judge which one is better. Both have high efficacy and effects. 2. What is the difference between honeysuckle and honeysuckle tea? If you want to compare honeysuckle and honeysuckle tea, there are still many differences. They can be distinguished mainly from their origin, appearance, taste, ingredients, price and other aspects. This will help us better choose the Chinese medicinal materials we need. 1. From different sources Honeysuckle: It is the dry buds or newly opened flowers of the Caprifoliaceae plants gray felt honeysuckle, red gland honeysuckle, South China honeysuckle or yellow-brown honeysuckle, which grow mostly in streams, wild woods or bushes. Honeysuckle tea: its original name is honeysuckle, which is the dried flower buds or newly opened flowers of the genus Honeysuckle in the family Caprifoliaceae. It mostly grows in bushes or sparse woods on hillsides, on piles of rocks, beside mountain paths and near village fences. 2. Different appearance Honeysuckle: It is rod-shaped and curved, the petals are smaller than those of honeysuckle tea, and the surface is dark green brown or yellow-white or yellow-brown; there is less hair on the flower buds, and it feels hard when touched. Honeysuckle Tea: It is rod-shaped, thick at the top and thin at the bottom, slightly curved, and the petals are larger than those of honeysuckle. The surface is mostly yellow-white or green-milky white, and the color is lighter than that of honeysuckle. There is more fluff on the flower buds, which feel soft and malleable. 3. The taste is different Honeysuckle: It has a low, deep smell and a wide range of aroma. If you smell it more often, it will feel sweet but not greasy. Honeysuckle tea: Its taste is lighter than that of mountain honeysuckle, and it smells fragrant and refreshing, with a sweet but not greasy feeling. 4. Different ingredients Honeysuckle: Its main ingredients are similar to those of honeysuckle tea, namely chlorogenic acid and olibanum glycyrrhizin. The average chlorogenic acid content is 6.196%, the maximum is 12.00%, and the content of olibanum glycyrrhizin is also higher than 0.05%. Honeysuckle tea: The average chlorogenic acid content is 1.32%, and the maximum is 5.87%, which is lower than that of honeysuckle. The 2010 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia uses the amount of luteolin as the evaluation standard for whether it is a genuine honeysuckle tea, requiring that the luteolin content should not be less than 0.05%. The currently recognized claim is that the luteolin content in honeysuckle tea is higher than that in honeysuckle. 5. Different prices Honeysuckle: Its price is slightly lower than that of honeysuckle tea, so many stores will use honeysuckle instead of honeysuckle tea. Generally, the price of honeysuckle ranges from a few dozen to over a hundred yuan per kilogram. Honeysuckle tea: It is one of the 70 kinds of precious Chinese medicinal materials identified by the General Office of the State Council, and its total output value is lower than that of honeysuckle. Therefore, the price of honeysuckle tea is generally slightly higher than that of honeysuckle. Depending on the quality of the Chinese medicinal materials, the price generally ranges from more than one hundred to more than two hundred. |
