I feel so exhausted! Dizziness! What to do? It’s true that we feel sleepy in spring and tired in summer! With the arrival of summer, many friends around me often complain that they still feel tired no matter how long they sleep. Is there something wrong with their body? Don't worry! It is common to feel tired in summer: the summer heat can easily damage body fluids and consume energy. In addition, the spleen and earth are in season in summer, and the heat is often accompanied by dampness, which can cause spleen deficiency and dampness. The clear yang is trapped in the middle burner and cannot be dispersed, so dizziness and fatigue may be seen! To address this phenomenon, you might as well try this herb - Polygala tenuifolia. Polygala tenuifolia was first recorded in Shennong's Herbal Classic and was listed as a top-grade herb. Li Shizhen believed that Polygala tenuifolia was an essential medicine for nourishing life, and proposed that "taking this herb can improve intelligence and strengthen the will, so it is called Polygala tenuifolia." Polygala tenuifolia is also known as "little grass". Gong Zizhen, a writer in the late Qing Dynasty, once used Polygala tenuifolia to express his feelings of having great ambitions but not being valued by the court: "The nine borders are well-known but are like insects, while Polygala tenuifolia is just like a small grass. It is in vain to say that I have a strong man in my hands, as he is blocked by the green lamp and the snowy night in Shandong." The general meaning is: Even though I am well-versed in military books, familiar with the combat terrain on the border and have specific methods to fight the enemy, I am not valued by the court. Although it has the lofty ideal of defending the country, it is like the Chinese medicine Polygala tenuifolia, which has only a name but does not look any different from an ordinary grass if you look closely at its appearance. Although I now have the ambition to become a fitness hero and extraordinary skills, I am like a wanderer blocked on the Shandong Road by heavy snow and cannot move forward. Polygala tenuifolia is bitter and slightly warm in nature. It mainly enters the heart and kidney meridians. It has the effects of calming the mind, soothing the heart and opening the orifices, resolving phlegm, relieving depression, and eliminating carbuncle. It is often used to treat symptoms such as insufficient heart qi, deficiency of the five internal organs, neurasthenia, forgetfulness, palpitations, insomnia and nightmares. So, in the hot summer, how should we use grass to adjust our state and feel relaxed? There are several ways to eat Polygala: 1. Calming and tranquilizing tea: 15g each of Polygala tenuifolia, Acorus calamus and Pseudostellaria pseudoginseng, boil them in water and drink as tea, it has the effects of resolving phlegm, opening the orifices, relieving heat and nourishing yin. Polygala tenuifolia and Acorus calamus are a commonly used medicinal pair, which can resolve phlegm, open the orifices, improve hearing and eyesight, while Pseudostellaria chinensis can replenish qi and nourish yin, and is specifically used to treat the syndrome of qi and yin deficiency caused by summer heat. 2. Polygala and Jujube Seed Porridge: 10 grams each of Polygala root and fried jujube, 50 grams of polished rice. First wash the japonica rice, put it into the pot and cook porridge with clean water. After the water boils, add Polygala tenuifolia and jujube kernels and cook until done. This porridge can be eaten as a midnight snack in the evening. This porridge has the effect of calming the mind and soothing the nerves, and has a good effect in relieving symptoms such as palpitations, forgetfulness, insomnia and nightmares caused by insufficient heart blood and phlegm disturbing the mind. Although the small grass Polygala tenuifolia is not good-looking, it has excellent effects! |
