Sun Simiao and it actually produced wonderful sparks

Once, Emperor Taizong of Tang was ill and the imperial doctors were helpless. So, Taizong ordered Sun Simiao to come to the palace. Sun Simiao took the pulse of Emperor Taizong of Tang and prescribed medicine. After taking the first dose, Emperor Taizong of Tang's condition did not improve. He took another dose later, but still no effect. At that time, Emperor Taizong of Tang did not blame him and let him go home first.

Sun Simiao was very unhappy. After walking for a long time, he came to the foot of a mountain and asked the mountain villagers for water to drink. This mountain family consists of only two sisters, who make a living by selling medicinal herbs. They were very enthusiastic about the guest from afar. The elder sister made him a bowl of golden tea with yellow flowers, and the younger sister made him a bowl of silver flower tea with white flowers. Sun Simiao took a sip of each tea and found it sweet and light, quenching thirst and clearing away heat, so he said: "Both of these flowers can be used as medicine."

After hearing this, the two sisters laughed. My sister explained, "These two medicines are the same. They are white when they first bloom and turn yellow when they are in full bloom. It is called honeysuckle. Not to mention you, even Sun Simiao would not take fake medicine seriously. This time he lost face in front of His Majesty. We went to the city to sell medicine, but the eunuchs took all our medicine and only gave us a little money. We were so angry that we used fake medicine to cheat them. For this reason, even Sun Simiao could not cure His Majesty's illness."

After hearing this, Sun Simiao suddenly realized what was going on. He immediately "revealed" his identity, and took the two mountain girls as his teachers. He learned from them how to collect and make medicines, and understood the properties of various medicines. Then he picked some fresh medicine and brought it back to the palace, and cured Emperor Taizong of Tang's illness with just one dose. Emperor Taizong of Tang accepted his advice, required eunuchs to be traded fairly, and named Sun Simiao the "King of Medicine".

Later, the "King of Medicine" used honeysuckle as the "main ingredient" and licorice, rehmannia, and platycodon as the "assistants" to formulate the prescription "Gan Jue Tang". To this day, whenever a Chinese medicine practitioner prescribes "Gan Jue Tang", they will naturally think of the humble and studious "King of Medicine" - Sun Simiao.
