What does saffron look like?

Many people know about rose tea, but they don't know what it looks like. In fact, it is a long, thin, bright red linear filament, which is very easy to identify. The main stem of rose tea is a woody plant with light green leaves and purple-blue petals. Its bulb is a light dark brown, round and flat ball. When buying rose tea, you can judge its authenticity by the clear yellowish color of the water after brewing, the strong fragrance, and the absence of oil marks when squeezed with paper.

1. Rose tea is long and thin bright red filaments

Rose tea, which is often mentioned in daily life, is a very precious Chinese herbal medicine that is beneficial to human health. So what does this kind of rose tea look like? In fact, it is the bright red filaments in the petals of rose tea. After drying, it appears as long and thin lines with irregular serrated marks on the top edge, which is very recognizable.

The overall appearance of the rose tea plant is a woody plant with light green striped leaves and slightly curled edges. Its petals are mostly purple-blue, with 6 petals. Inside the petals are 3 light yellow pistils and one pistil, and it has 3 loose styles, with a unique fragrance.

The rose tea that blooms from October to November each year is not easy to bear fruit, and is mainly propagated by the oblate bulbs at the bottom. The outer skin of the bulb contains a double layer of membranous scales, which appear to be light dark brown. When peeled off, the inside of the bulb can be seen to be milky white, with stages and axillary buds all over it.

2. How to distinguish the authenticity of saffron

1. Brew tea and observe

The simplest way to identify the authenticity of rose tea is to brew it and observe it. When real rose tea is put into water to make tea, the water will be dyed a bright and clear light yellow; while the water color of fake rose tea will be orange or bright red after brewing, and the filaments will become broken, and a layer of thick substance will continue to float on the surface of the water.

2. Contains fragrance

You can also identify the authenticity of rose tea by its taste. Real rose tea has a strong fragrance, and you can smell its aroma by placing it in front of your eyes. But fake rose tea does not have this special fragrance. It is usually tasteless or has only a faint fragrance.

3. Paper pressing and observation

Real rose tea and fake rose tea can also be distinguished by whether it emits oil. Put the rose tea in a clean tissue, then squeeze it hard, then open the tissue. If oil marks are found on it, it means it is fake rose tea.
