What Chinese medicine can remove melasma?

Every woman hopes that her skin can stay forever young and beautiful, and does not want her skin to suffer from chloasma, freckles, and acne. However, it is inevitable that the skin will be prone to chloasma and toxins due to carelessness in daily life. If it is not eliminated, the face will be more or less dark yellow, the skin will lose its luster, and chloasma will occur. So what Chinese medicine is effective in removing chloasma?

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the liver stores blood and likes to be unobstructed but hates to be depressed. If emotions are not fulfilled, the liver loses its smooth flow, or the yin blood is secretly consumed, or the source of biochemical metabolism is insufficient, all of which can lead to liver qi stagnation and discomfort. Prolonged depression turns into heat, which burns the yin blood, causing imbalance of qi and blood in the face and leading to illness.

The kidneys store essence and are water. When water is deficient, fire will flourish. Body fluids and blood will be consumed secretly, unable to moisten the face, causing it to wither and develop spots. When the spleen is weak and cannot function properly, qi is deficient and lacks source for production, resulting in insufficient qi and blood, which cannot nourish the face, causing chloasma.

Patients with chloasma are often accompanied by irritability, chest and flank pain, dysmenorrhea or delayed menstruation, dark purple menstrual blood with clots, purple spots on the tongue, and a wiry and hesitant pulse (facial spots are bluish-brown). Common clinical symptoms include dizziness, tinnitus, forgetfulness, insomnia, dry throat and mouth, hot flashes in the five parts of the body, red cheeks and night sweats, oligomenorrhea in women, and spermatorrhea in men, etc.

Representative Chinese medicines with endorheic effects include: saffron, red peony root, blood clotting, moutan bark, cooked rehmannia, white peony root, cyperus rotundus, curcuma, eclipta prostrata, etc. Treatment for chloasma due to liver depression and blood stasis: soothe the liver and promote blood circulation. Melasma is a difficult-to-treat pigmentation and hyperpigmentation skin disease that commonly occurs on the face. It is related to genetics, endocrine system, pregnancy, sunlight, etc. Recently, it has been found that the occurrence of this disease is related to microecological balance, metabolic abnormalities and inferior cosmetics.

There is currently no specific treatment, and topical depigmentation or depigmentation preparations are the most effective way to treat increased melanin in the epidermis. But it can only control, not eradicate chloasma. The following are some commonly used topical medications.

1. Hydroquinone

It has a similar structure to tyrosine, the substrate of tyrosinase, and can competitively inhibit the activity of tyrosinase, affecting the formation of melanin. The mechanism of action of hydroquinone also includes inhibiting DNA and RNA complexes, eroding melanosomes and destroying melanocytes, thereby promoting the decomposition of melanosomes.

The therapeutic effect of hydroquinone is related to its concentration, matrix and chemical stability of the product. The higher the concentration, the better the therapeutic effect and the greater the irritation. The commonly used concentration is 2% to 5%.

In the above article, we learned which Chinese medicine is effective in removing chloasma. First of all, chloasma is a disease caused by excessive qi and blood in daily life, coupled with endocrine disorders, which causes the disharmony of qi and blood in the face. For patients with chloasma, it is recommended that you relax and actively treat it in daily life to achieve the corresponding therapeutic effect.
