[Original form] Evergreen tree, up to 12m high, with a spherical crown. Simple leaves are alternate; the leaves are oblong or oblanceolate, leathery, 8-13cm long, narrow at the top, slightly obtuse at the apex, narrowly cuneate at the base, entire, or with a few obtuse serrations at the apex, dark green and shiny above, slightly lighter in color below, smooth and hairless, with golden glands. Flowers are dioecious; male inflorescences are clustered in leaf axils in constant lines, cylindrical, about 3 cm long, and yellow-red; male flowers have 1 bract, ovate, with sharp tip, 2-4 bracteoles, ovate, and 5-6 stamens; female inflorescences are ovate-oblong, about 1.5 cm long, often solitary in leaf axils; female flowers have bracts and bracteoles at the base, ovate ovary, and extremely short style. There are 2 slender stigmas. The drupe is spherical, about 1.8 cm in diameter, with a dark red exocarp composed of many densely growing cystic bodies, a hard endocarp, about 9 mm in diameter, and containing one seed without endosperm. Flowering period is April. Fruiting period is June-July.
