[Source] It is the root or stem and leaves of the Apocynaceae plant. Available all year round.

[Original form] Shrubs or vines, upright, up to 2 meters high, bare, with many creeping branches, latex oozing out when broken. Branchlets usually tan. The leaves are opposite, with short petioles, elliptical or rectangular, 4-10 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, short-pointed at the apex, cuneate at the base, entire, thick papery, and bald on both sides. The flowers are large, yellow-white, terminal or 3-flowered in a cyme; the pedicels are slender, about 1 cm long; there is a pair of bracts under the calyx, which are narrowly linear; the calyx is 5-lobed, the lobes are lanceolate, about 10 mm long, and light yellow; the corolla is yellow, funnel-shaped, and the corolla tube is about 1.2 cm long. The upper part is 5-lobed, with lobes ovate-lanceolate at the base, linear-long-caudal at the apex, about 5 cm long, and scales on the inner surface of the base; 5 stamens, arrow-shaped anthers, each anther connected to the stigma, filaments fusiform; ovary 2-chambered, semi-inferior, style laurel-shaped, stigma capitate or shallowly lobed. The follicles are woody, bipartite and expanded, long-lanceolate, about 10 to 15 cm long, very thick, and contain many seeds. The seeds are linear and flat, with a long tail at one end and densely covered with long white silky hairs. Flowering period is from March to April. The fruiting period is from August to September.

【Habitat distribution】Grows on hillsides or in jungles. Distributed in Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and other places.
