Evacuation signs

Evacuation signs are luminous signs installed on the ground or on walls near the ground in evacuation corridors and evacuation routes to provide evacuation instructions for the safe evacuation of personnel.

Evacuation signs should be set up in accordance with relevant national fire protection technical standards and specifications, and light evacuation signs and emergency exit signs that meet the requirements of the specifications should be used to indicate the evacuation direction.

Common evacuation signs

Evacuation signs are usually divided into those with arrows and those without arrows.

Evacuation signs with arrows are usually installed on the ground, in evacuation corridors or at corners, on the wall 1 meter below the ground. In the event of a fire, just run in the direction of the arrow to find a safe exit.

Emergency exit signs without arrows are usually installed above the emergency exit doors.

The meaning of different arrows

Setting of evacuation signs

●Safety evacuation signs should not be blocked and should not affect normal traffic;

● Fire emergency evacuation sign lamps should be fixedly installed on non-combustible walls or non-combustible decoration materials, and should not be installed on doors, windows or other movable objects;

● The directional sign graphics of the evacuation sign should point to the nearest evacuation exit or emergency exit;

● For evacuation signs installed on the wall, the center line of the sign should not be greater than 1m from the indoor floor (they can be installed on the upper part if it is difficult to install). The spacing between light-storing and self-luminous signs should not be greater than 5m , and the spacing between light evacuation signs should not be greater than 20m (if installed in underground buildings, it should not be greater than 15m);

●Evacuation signs installed on the ground should be set up continuously along the evacuation corridor or main evacuation route; when set up intermittently, the spacing between self-luminous signs should not be greater than 1.5m , and the spacing between light-type evacuation signs should not be greater than 3m;

●Light evacuation signs should be equipped with protective covers made of glass or other non-combustible materials;

●The light evacuation sign can use batteries as a backup power source, and its continuous power supply time should not be less than 20 minutes (for high-rise civil buildings and underground buildings with a height of more than 100m, it should not be less than 30 minutes). After the working power supply is cut off, the backup power supply should be automatically connected.
