What is the train driver doing?

In the short few minutes when the train stops at the station, the driver needs to complete a lot of tasks: confirm the platform location → open the door → confirm the train arrival time → record data → confirm each display signal → set various parameters → wait for passengers to get on the train → close the door → confirm each instrument parameter → confirm the time... Only after all the processes are completed can the train start.

During the few minutes of parking, the train driver is also responsible for opening and closing the carriage doors. The door opening and closing methods of EMU trains are different from those of ordinary passenger cars. The EMU driver operates the door opening and closing buttons to open and close the doors, while the train attendants are responsible for opening and closing the doors of ordinary passenger cars.

Only when the driver turns the control key to "allow" will the door switch indicator light up, and the train attendant can then operate the button to open or close the door.

The reason why the EMU can stop so accurately is due to the hard work of the driver. In order to achieve the high requirement of "zero alignment and control error of no more than 5 cm", the driver has to go to the platform every time after parking, measure the distance between the braking point and the platform mark by counting floor tiles, and explore the operation plan of accurate alignment.
