1. Belly buttons often have a smelly smell, which is because the bacteria in belly buttons are not only of many types, but also of large numbers. Researchers at North Carolina State University in the United States found 1,400 different strains in human belly buttons, nearly half of which had never been seen before, and some species had only been found in the ocean before.

2. The depth of the navel is related to the body shape. People with thin bodies usually have shallow navels because of their flat abdomens. People with obese bodies have thicker abdominal fat. In addition, the navel is connected to the round ligament of the liver and cannot be moved at will. Therefore, it can only stay in place and sink deeper and deeper, turning into a hole.

3. After the umbilical cord of some newborns falls off, the navel will bulge out. This is actually a very common phenomenon, which is medically called "umbilical hernia". When the baby coughs or cries, causing the intra-abdominal pressure to increase, there will be a protruding spherical or hemispherical mass in the navel. However, don't worry too much, the umbilical hernia of the child will heal naturally within one year old.
