Slice Intelligence: Online wine sales grew 63% in 2016

Data from Slice Intelligence shows that online wine sales have increased 63% since April 2015, with even more growth during the holiday shopping season. Wine connoisseurs spend an average of $65.87 per order, buying nearly four bottles of wine each time.

Red or white?

Online consumers prefer red wine, with more than 37% of wine sales coming from red wine and white wine accounting for only 20%.

Cabernet Sauvignon was the most diverse choice, followed closely by sparkling wine, with full-bodied red wines accounting for 14% of the online wine market.

The most expensive wine was also a Cabernet Sauvignon, priced at $2,399.
