Guangzhou Municipal Economic and Trade Commission: The total amount of online shopping in Guangzhou in 2011 exceeded 15 billion yuan

Recently, Guangzhou Municipal Economic and Trade Commission released the statistical report on the operation of industrial and commercial economy in 2011. The report shows that the industrial and commercial sectors have completed the planned indicators issued by the municipal party committee and government at the beginning of the year, and the new economic model is also showing a trend of amplifying its effect in Guangzhou.

The comprehensive industrial efficiency index ranks first among the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta

Compared with the other eight cities in the Pearl River Delta, Guangzhou's comprehensive industrial economic efficiency index in the first 11 months of last year was 289, 80 percentage points higher than the provincial average, ranking first among the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta. The city's large-scale industries realized taxes of 62.7 billion yuan, and the total amount ranked third among the central cities in the country; the total output value and added value of large-scale industries in the whole year were 1,580.7 billion yuan and 414.8 billion yuan respectively, up 12.9% and 12.0% year-on-year, achieving the expected growth target of 11.5% in industrial added value issued by the municipal government at the beginning of the year; the city's automobile production was 1.5 million vehicles, up 10.6% year-on-year, about 8.0 percentage points higher than the national average, and the production of passenger cars ranked second after Shanghai.

It is worth noting that the profits of industrial enterprises have declined and their benefits need to be improved. Last year, the total profits of industrial enterprises above designated size were 85.646 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 9.7%. At the same time, the production of high-energy-consuming industries such as steel and cement showed negative growth, with a decrease rate of 1.0% and 6.5%.

Business enters the "500 billion club"

Last year, the commercial sector achieved remarkable results. The total retail sales of consumer goods ranked third in the city and successfully entered the "500 billion" club. Among them, the added value of the city's modern service industry increased by 12.8%, 1.8 percentage points higher than the city's GDP growth rate. At the end of the year, the number of chain stores in the chain operation was roughly more than 25,000, an increase of about 30%; the total sales of chain enterprises accounted for more than 60% of the total retail sales, ranking among the top major cities.

In addition, with the efforts of the private economy, the total output value of private industries above designated size reached 253.8 billion yuan throughout the year, an increase of 19.8%, and its contribution to the city's industrial growth increased by 7.4 percentage points year-on-year.

Online shopping for SLR jewelry exceeds 100 million yuan

"Guangdong goods online" is one of the main tasks promoted by Guangzhou in recent years. Last year, more than 75% of the city's key enterprises carried out e-commerce; the online shopping penetration rate of citizens exceeded 40%, 9 percentage points higher than the national average, and the online shopping consumption exceeded 15 billion yuan. Personal credit consumption has also gradually become a trend. This year, the balance of short-term personal consumption loans has increased by 25% year-on-year.

According to data from Taobao, in 2011, Guangzhou residents spent a total of 110 million yuan on purchasing SLR cameras, and they also spent the same amount on online jewelry purchases.

In addition, luggage products have become the pioneer and main force of Guangzhou enterprises. Among the top 50 luggage sales rankings on Taobao.com in 2011, 14 stores are from Guangzhou, more than twice the number of the second place Hangzhou.
