[Source] It is the root of Dendrobium chrysanthum Wall. et Lindl. of the Orchidaceae family .

[Original morphology] The stem is cylindrical, nearly fleshy, 20 to 145 cm high and 1 to 1.7 cm thick. The leaves are papery, lanceolate, 13 to 19 cm long, 3 to 4.5 cm wide, and pointed at the apex. The inflorescence is several days long and grows laterally on leafy or leafless stem nodes; there are 2 to 20 inflorescences, each with 2 to 6 flowers; the flowers are golden yellow, fleshy and fragrant. The lip is nearly fan-shaped, with two purple spots on the lip disc, two folds extending from the base to the middle, with fringed edges and velvet on both sides. Flowering period is from May to September.

【Habitat distribution】Grows on rocks and trees. Distributed in Guizhou, Guangxi and Yunnan.

[Properties] The stem is slender and cylindrical, irregularly curved in the middle and upper parts, 50 to 145 cm long, 3 to 5 mm in diameter at the base, 2 to 3 mm in diameter in the middle, 1.5 to 2 mm in diameter at the upper part, and 1 to 4 cm in length between nodes. The surface is golden yellow or brownish yellow with longitudinal lines of uniform thickness. There are elliptical inflorescence stalk marks and remaining leaf sheaths on the nodes, some with purple-red spots. It is light, easy to break, gray-brown in cross section, and slightly fibrous. The stems of fresh products are mostly bent to one side, with a green, shiny surface and heavy texture. It has a slight odor, a slightly bitter taste, and is sticky when chewed.
