[Source] It is the root or vine of the grape plant Vitaceae . Available all year round. Slice and dry.

【Original form】 Evergreen vine with tendrils. The stems are brown-black with yellow glandular dots on the surface; the bast fibers are long and strong and can be torn into bundles. The leaves are palmately compound with long petioles. The leaflets are 5 to 12 cm long and 2 to 3 cm wide, slightly sickle-shaped and with serrated edges. The compound cymes are axillary and green. The berries are as big as peas and are brown-red when ripe.

【Nature and flavor】 Sour, numb, cold.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat, promotes diuresis, disperses blood stasis, promotes blood circulation, and eliminates rheumatism. Treat cystitis, urethritis, rheumatic bone pain, bruises, snake bites, sores, boils and swellings.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 0.5 to 1 liang. For external use: mash and apply.
