[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Oenanthe chinensis of the Umbelliferae family.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 0.8-1.5m high. The whole plant is hairless. There are short rhizomes with rootlets. The stem is erect or grape-shaped, with roots at the lower nodes and forked branches at the upper part, spreading. The petiole is 2-8cm long; the leaf blade is triangular in outline, pinnately divided two to four times, with the terminal segment split into short, blunt linear lobes, 2-12mm long and 1-2mm wide. Compound umbels terminal or lateral; no involucre; rays 5-12, 1-3cm long; involucral bracts linear, few; umbels with 13-30 flowers; calyx teeth small, ovate; petals white, obovate; apex with infolded ligules; stylopodium short conical. The double-hanging fruit is nearly spherical, with a diameter of 1.5-2mm, obvious dorsal and middle ridges, relatively enlarged lateral ridges, obvious grooves, and semicircular cross-section of the fruit. There is one oil tube in each groove and two oil tubes on the commissure. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from August to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown on hillsides, wetlands under forests in valleys, or beside streams.

【Properties】 Identification by properties: This product is mostly wrinkled into a ball and is completely hairless. The stem is slender, cylindrical, curved and much branched. The complete leaves are two to four times pinnately divided, one of the lobes is petiolate, ovate-triangular or oblong, 1-2mm long and 1mm wide, and split into short lanceolate lobes. The petiole is 2-6cm long and has a long sheath. Crisp texture. The smell is very residual and the taste is slightly spicy.
