[Source] Medicinal material source: The fruit of Salvia officinalis, a plant of the Lamiaceae family.

[Original form] Artemisia selengensis, annual or biennial herb, 30-90cm tall. Root of long cone, brown. Stems densely covered with long, mucous hairs. Leaves are opposite; petioles are 2-6cm long, covered with long stiff hairs of sticky glands; leaf blades are halberd-shaped or halberd-shaped triangular, covered with coarse procumbent hairs on both sides, with light yellow spots on the underside. The cyme has 4-6 flowers, which are densely packed in the upper part and sparsely spread in the lower part to form terminal or axillary racemes; the calyx is bell-shaped, two-lipped, with the upper lip triangular-semicircular and the lower lip triangular-shaped; the corolla is yellow, 1-1.3cm long, sparsely pubescent on the outside, and an incomplete ring of sparse pubescent hairs on the inside 2-2.5mm away from the base of the corolla tube; the filaments are about 4mm long, the connective is about 4mm long, and the upper and lower arms are nearly equal in length. The nutlets are obovate, dark brown and smooth. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from September to October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Hillside grassland at an altitude of 2500-3700m, shady places beside ditches, and at the foot and middle of mountains.

【Functions and indications】Nourishes the kidney and liver; improves eyesight. Mainly used for postpartum weakness; insufficient milk; blurred vision

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 6-15g.
