[Other names] Pteris spheniscus (Zhejiang Traditional Chinese Medicine Resource Catalog), green flag grass, blood-seeking grass (Guangdong Traditional Chinese Medicine 3 (5): 26, 1958), broken leaf golden flower, blood-removing grass, ground cypress, small phoenix tail grass, fine golden chicken tail, fine-leaved pheasant tail, fine-leaved road chicken (Hunan Materia Medica), ground cypress branch (Guizhou Medicinal Plant Catalog).

[Source] The whole herb and root of Aspleniaceae .

[Original form] Perennial herb, 10 to 20 cm high. The rhizome is short and erect, densely covered with black linear lanceolate or subulate scales. The leaves are clustered, with petioles 5 to 10 cm long, thin and green; the leaves are 3-pinnate, with leaf blades triangular-rectangular, 5 to 13 cm long, 2.5 to 5 cm wide, the widest part at the base, gradually pointed at the tip, and the pinnae are ovate, 1.5 to 3 cm long and 1 to 2 cm wide; the lobes are linear with 1 to 2 fine teeth; the leaves are herbaceous; both sides are glabrous and green. The sori are linear, with 1 to 2 on each lobe; the sori caps are the same shape and membranous.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on limestone in ravines. Distributed in Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian and other places.

【Properties and flavors】 "Hunan Pharmacopoeia": "bitter, cold, non-toxic."

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat, promotes dampness removal and stops bleeding. Treat dry cough, jaundice, leucorrhea, gastrointestinal bleeding, knife wounds, sores, and burns.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 0.5 to 1 liang. For external use: grind into powder and sprinkle, boil into paste or mash into juice and apply.

[Additional prescription] ① Treat dry cough without phlegm: 1 liang of peacock tail. Decoction in water.
