Flowers are solitary in leaf axils; calyx is bilipiform, with 5 short or almost inconspicuous calyx teeth; corolla is paternal, yellow, about 2 cm long, with the standard petal longer, and the wing petals as large as the keel petals; 10 stamens, monomeric, anthers heteromorphic; ovary is almost sessile, covered with white long hairs, with many ovules, and style about 2 cm long, incurved. The pods are flat, do not crack, and are densely covered with white soft hairs along the dorsal and ventral lines. Seeds several, with a hard scab at the base.

【Habitat distribution】 Native to the Mediterranean. It is cultivated in Taiwan and Lhasa, Tibet.

[Chemical composition] The seeds contain (-)-3β, 13α-dihydroxylupanine, lectin, sarothamnoside, L-dopa, linoleic acid, cholesterol, campesterol, stigmasterol, β-sitosterol and △7-stigmasterol. Immature seeds contain gibberellin A35 and its glucoside.
