[Original morphology] The body is long and laterally flattened, with a slightly raised, arc-shaped back. The body length is about 10 cm. The back of the head is straight and slightly curved. The snout is pointed and shorter than the length of the head behind the eyes. The mouth is terminal, the lower jaw protrudes slightly forward, the mouth is slanted, the upper lip is thin and the lower lip is thick. There are two pairs of whiskers, the anterior and posterior pairs are approximately equal in length or the posterior pair is slightly longer, extending backwards to the edge of the anterior branchial cover. The eye is located in the middle of the head. The pharyngeal teeth are in three rows, slender and slightly hooked at the ends. The lateral line is complete, with 73 to 79 lateral line scales, located in a section of the abdomen, slightly curved toward the abdomen, and extending posteriorly to the mid-axis of the base of the caudal fin. The scales are small, but those along the lateral line are larger. Dorsal fin III7, with hard spines, serrated posterior edge, its starting point closer to the tail base than to the snout tip. The pelvic fin is located in front of the origin of the dorsal fin. Anal fin III5, originating below the end of dorsal fin ray. The whole body is light yellow, with a slightly bluish-gray back, many black spots on the sides of the body near the back, and all fins are golden yellow.
