[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of the plant Tung oil tree of the Scrophulariaceae family.

[Original form] Paulownia is a deciduous tree, often a semi-epiphytic pseudovine, with a height of up to 15m. The bark is grayish white, the twigs are brown with lenticels, covered with star hairs when young, and the branches are drooping or curled. Leaves are opposite; petiole 2.5cm long; leaf blade leathery; oblong, 15-30cm long, 10-15cm wide, with acute tip, base broadly cuneate to nearly circular, glabrous on the upper side, with gray-yellow star hairs on the back. The panicle is narrow and long, up to 30 cm long, and all parts of the inflorescence are covered with rusty star hairs; the peduncle of the cyme is 1 cm long, with joints at the branches, often with 3 flowers, and a pair of bracteoles on the short pedicel; the calyx is campanulate, up to 8 mm long, irregularly 3-4 lobed, covered with star hairs, and the calyx teeth are round to broadly ovate; the corolla is pink, 3.5 cm long, the tube is slightly flattened, expanding forward, hunched back, covered with star hairs, the upper lip is erect, 2-lobed, the lower lip is larger than the lip, 3-lobed, the lobes are curled, and the throat is open; there are 4 stamens, extending out of the corolla, and the filaments are glabrous; the ovary is ovate-round, glabrous, with 6 inconspicuous stripes. The capsule is oblong to oblong, about 4 cm long, and is leathery. Seeds narrowly winged. Flowering period is September-October.
