[Source] Medicinal material source: The pseudobulb of the orchid plant Fritillaria thunbergii.

[Original form] Chestnut-scaled Fritillary Orchid, an epiphyte, up to 38cm tall. With rhizomes. Pseudobulb narrowly cylindrical, up to 12cm long and 1.5-2cm thick. The base is covered with chestnut-colored ovate scales, and there are two leaves at the top. The leaves have petioles, the petioles are 8cm long; the leaf blades are lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, with acute tips, 18cm long and about 4cm wide. The scape grows from the young pseudobulb, and is not on the same pseudoscale as the mature leaves, and is the same length as the leaves; the young pseudobulb is covered with scales with chestnut spots; the raceme has several to more than 10 flowers; the bracts are ovate and fall early; the flowers are relatively large, yellow-white; the sepals are nearly the same size, oblong-lanceolate, 2.2cm long and 6mm wide; the petals are slightly shorter and narrower than the sepals, linear, 2mm wide; the lip has 3 large, orange-yellow spots, ovate in appearance, about 2cm long, up to 1.8cm wide, 3-lobed, the lateral lobes are semi-ovate, obtuse at the apex, erect, clasping the column, the middle sepal is nearly ovate and acute; there are 3 wavy folds on the lip disc, extending nearly to the middle of the middle lobe.
