Basal leaves are trifoliate; petioles are 3-12cm long, with bases enlarged and sheath-like; leaf blades are ovate or kidney-shaped in outline, 1.2-3cm long; leaflets are fan-shaped rhombus or obovate rhombus, 0.6-2.5cm long, 1-2.8cm wide, 3 deeply lobed, and the deep lobes are 2-3 scalloped notches, glabrous on both sides, often purple on the underside; stem leaves are smaller, alternate, and have shorter petioles.
