[Original form] The flathead Hana shark is generally 2-3 meters long, with a relatively thick front part, gradually becoming thinner at the back, and a long and narrow tail. The head is flat and wide, with a broad and rounded front edge and a medium-long snout, about 1/4 of the head length. The eyes are oblong and have no nictitating membrane. The nostrils are medium to large, located in the lower side, and the posterior part of the anterior nasal valve is rounded and prominent. The mouth is wide and arc-shaped, with a well-developed brown lower lip and a posteriorly extending brown groove. The upper and lower jaws are laterally flattened, and there are 1-3 small teeth in the upper jaw without heads. There is one central tooth in the mandible, with no tooth head in the center and three small tooth heads on each side; there are 6 teeth on each side of the mandible, which are comb-shaped and have 5-6 tooth heads. The blowhole is small, round, and located on the upper side, closer to the first gill opening than to the eye. There are 7 wide gill openings, the lower part extends to the ventral surface, gradually becomes smaller towards the back, and the last one is located in front of the base of the pectoral fin. There is one dorsal fin, which is posteriorly located and has its starting point opposite to the posterior end of the pelvic fin base. The pectoral fins are relatively large, with blunt outer and inner corners. The pelvic fin is about the same size as the dorsal fin, and the anal fin is smaller than the dorsal fin. The tail fin is very long, the axis of the caudal vertebrae is flat, slightly upturned at the back, the front part of the lower lobe is protruding, there is a notch between the middle and the back, and the tail is blunt and pointed. The body is gray-brown with scattered irregular black spots, and the abdomen, pelvic fins and anal fins are light brown.
