[Original morphology] Cynomorium wilfordii is a perennial herb, 40-100cm tall. The stem is dark purple, ribbed, with swollen nodes and opposite leaves; the petiole is 1-4.5cm long; the leaf blade is ovate-elliptical or elliptical, 7-15cm long and 3-5cm wide, with one large and one small opposite leaf on the upper part, with acuminate tips, cuneate base, serrated edges, dark green above with short hairs on veins, and pale green below. 3-5 flowers are gathered in a head inflorescence; there are several bracts outside the inflorescence, which are ovate-elliptical and fall off early; the calyx has 5 lobes, which are deeply divided almost to the base, and the lobes are linear-lanceolate, 7-9mm long, growing to about 16mm when fruiting, and covered with glandular hairs; the corolla is light reddish purple, about 4cm long, slightly curved, covered with short soft hairs on the outside, glabrous on the inside or with 2 rows of short soft hairs at the throat, with 5 lobes, which are almost equal; there are 4 stamens, the outer pair of filaments is very long, the inner pair of filaments is very short, and the base of the filaments is connected by a membrane; the ovary is superior, covered with hairs, and the stigma is slightly curved. The capsule is 1-1.8-cm long, with glandular hairs, and contains 4 seeds, which are oblong and slightly hairy. Flowering period is September-October.
