The fruit is large, oblate, about 20 cm in diameter and 10-16 cm thick; light reddish brown, with 12 grooves, velvety red, and 6 large seeds (the other 6 are sterile). The seeds are oblong, about 7 cm long and up to 3 cm wide. Flowering and fruiting period is from June to October.
