[Original form] Oil palm, an upright tree, up to 10m tall or higher, with a diameter of up to 50cm. There are many leaves, clustered at the top of the stem, with wide petioles, and leaf blades 3-4.5m long, pinnately divided, with lobes linear-lanceolate, folded outward in bud, 70-80cm long, 2-4cm wide, and the lower ones degenerated into enlarged thorns at the base. Flowers are monoecious and in different orders; male inflorescence consists of multiple finger-like spikes, each spike is 7-12 cm long and 1 cm in diameter, with dense flowers on it and a pointed top of the spike axis; male sepals and petals are oblong, 4 mm long, 1 mm wide, and acute at the apex; female inflorescence is nearly capitate, dense, 20-30 cm long, with large bracts, about 2 cm long, and a thorn at the apex 7-30 mm long; sepals and petals of female flowers are ovate or ovate-oblong, about 5 mm long and 2.5 mm wide; ovary is about 8 mm long. The nut is ovate or obovate, 4-5cm long, 3cm wide, orange-red, with a spongy exocarp containing oil, a fibrous mesocarp, and a bony endocarp with 3 germination pores at the tip. The seeds are nearly spherical or ovoid and contain oil. The flowering period is February and the fruiting period is September.
