[Original form] Oriental wild fan flower shrub, 0.6-3m tall. There are rhizomes; the branchlets have longitudinal ridges and are covered with short soft hairs. Leaves are alternate; petiole is 5-8mm long; leaf blade is thin leathery, most of them are oblong-lanceolate or oblong-oblanceolate, usually 6-9cm long, 2-3cm wide, apex acuminate, base cuneate or broad cuneate; midrib of leaf surface is often slightly pubescent, the lowest pair of lateral veins rises very long from leaf base or petiole, forming basal tripartite veins with midrib, obvious on both sides, and the other lateral veins are only slightly distinct on the upper side; margin is curved downward. The inflorescence is nearly capitate, about 1 cm long, with the axis of the inflorescence covered with fine hairs; the bracts are ovate; there are 3-5 or more male flowers, born in the upper part of the inflorescence axis, the male flowers are pedunculate, with 2 bracts, sepals are broadly ovate, and the filaments are about 5 mm long; there are 1-3 or more female flowers, born in the lower part of the inflorescence axis, with a stalk 3-5 mm long, the bracts are ovate, arranged in a shingle-like manner, and the sepals and terminal bracts are similar in shape. The drupe is ovoid or spherical, about 7mm in diameter, black when ripe, with 2 persistent styles, erect, slightly curved at the apex, and a fruit stalk 3-5mm long, borne in corymbs on a short inflorescence axis. The flowering period is from March to September, and the fruiting period is from May to June or November to December.
