[Source] Medicinal material source: The root of the plant Tasselia tassel of the Rubiaceae family.

[Original form] Tassel vine or climbing shrub, usually 2-4m long. There are many branches with obvious nodes, and only the young branches are covered with soft hairs. Leaves are opposite; petioles are short; stipules are linear-lanceolate, 4-5mm long; leaf blades are lanceolate to ovate, 3-7cm long, 1-3cm wide, acuminate or caudate at the apex, shiny and glabrous above, midrib and leaf margins covered with long hairs below; leaves are nearly leathery. Flowers solitary in leaf axils; pedicels slender, jointed near the middle and with opposite bracts; calyx small, spherical, with short lobes; corolla white or yellow, saucer-shaped, about 1.5 cm long, covered with silky hairs; stamens 5, anthers linear, extending out. The capsule is nearly spherical, 2-chambered, with straight grooves between the chambers, 5-7mm wide, and yellow. There are about 10 seeds in each chamber, with fringed edges.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in sparse woods on hillsides.

[Chemical composition] The stems and root barks contain β-sitosterol (β-sitOstero1)[1].
