[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Pilea peltatum of the Urticaceae family.

【Original form】Succulent herb. Stem height 5-27cm. The whole plant is hairless. The leaves are often clustered at the top of the stem, with the lower part exposed, the internodes 1-4cm long, and unbranched. The leaves are fleshy and opposite; the petioles are 0.6-4.5cm long; the stipules are triangular and persistent; the leaf blades are slightly unequal in size, often peltate, nearly round, rarely oblate, 1-4.5cm long, 1-3.5cm wide, with acute or obtuse apex, cordate base, slightly emarginate or rounded, with several round teeth on the margin, often bluish-green when dry on both sides, honeycomb-shaped underneath, linear stalactites, densely covered above; 3 basal veins, several pairs of lateral veins, and often with glandular dots at the ends of veinlets. Monoecious or dioecious; cymes, several sparsely arranged on a single axis, beaded, male inflorescence 3-4cm long, of which peduncle 1-1.7cm long; female inflorescence 1-2.5cm long, of which peduncle up to 1cm; bracts lanceolate. Male flowers are short-stalked or sessile, light yellow-green; 4 tepals, cap-shaped when young, hood-shaped when mature, covered with stalactites; 4 stamens, the lower part of the filaments is adnate to the tepals; the reduced ovary is extremely small and oblong. Female flowers nearly sessile; tepals 3, unequal in size, middle one boat-shaped, lateral 2 ovate in fruit; reduced stamens oblong. Achenes are oval, flat, with a skewed tip, brown, smooth, and with a circle of unclear stripes on the edge. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from August to September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in rock crevices or shaded and moist places under bushes on limestone mountains at an altitude of 100-500m.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy; Light; Cool

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; removes phlegm and resolves blood stasis. It is used for cough and asthma due to lung heat; chronic cough due to tuberculosis; hemoptysis; sores and swelling; traumatic injury; bleeding due to trauma; malnutrition

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 5-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
