[Original form] Melon sphagnum, a climbing shrub, about 8m long. The twigs, leaf backs, petioles and flowers are all covered with yellow-brown soft hairs. Leaves are alternate; leaf blades are leathery, oblong or obovate-elliptical, 5-13cm long, 2-5cm wide, with rounded or slightly concave apex, rarely acute, and base broadly cuneate or rounded; petiole is about 1cm long. 1-3 flowers gathered in dense cymes; 3 sepals, broadly triangular; 6 petals, 2 whorls, the outer whorl ovate-oblong, about 2cm long, the inner whorl smaller; many stamens; many carpels, covered with long silky hairs, each with about 10 ovules. The fruit is spherical, 1.5-2cm in diameter, densely covered with yellow-brown hairs; the fruit stalk is no more than 2.5m long. The seeds are round, about 8mm in diameter. The flowering period is from April to September, and the fruiting period is from July to February of the following year.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in valleys, stream banks or moist sparse woods.

[Properties] 1. Characteristic identification: The root is nearly cylindrical, slightly curved or branched, with a diameter of 0.5-2cm. The surface is brown-black with intermittent longitudinal wrinkles and dot-like protrusions of fine root marks. It is hard, with brown bark and light yellow-brown wood, and has radial texture and small holes. It has a slight fragrance and a slightly spicy taste.

[Chemical composition] Syringic acid and trans-cinnamic acid were separated from the acidic part of the ethanol extract of the vine. Xylopine, fissistigine A (calycinine), fissistigine B and fissistigine C were separated from the alkaline part. The wood of the Taiwan-produced cassia tree contains annona ine, 10-hydroxy annona ine (anolobine), and hydroxy annona ine (norannuradhapurine); the bark contains annona ine, annona ine A, and O-methylpallidine (O-methyl flavinantine).

[Identification] Take 5 g of crude powder of this product, add appropriate amount of ethanol, reflux for 1 hour, and filter. The filtrate was concentrated to a paste, kneaded with a small amount of 2% hydrochloric acid and filtered.
